Mass Deletion and changes

Sorry all, but the spam bots got really out of hand. So some notices and changes...

First, I went willy-nilly deleting stuff, including user accounts and forum posts. So if you were legit or had a legit topic somewhere in the mess and you got deleted I apologize. Pretty much if the account was created anytime after mid-december it was automatically trashed. by my count in that time something in the realm of several thousand bot accounts had been created.

Second, to try and keep this from happening again now all registrations require approval before being allowed to post. I'll try to keep up on the requests as best I can. But please be patient as we try to wean the spam bots of an easy target.

Here's looking forward to another fantastic NaNo!

Moving on to 40k...

So... six days left and one weekend day among them. I hope to get to 40k tomorrow... cheer me on!

An auspicious beginning...

I love the website, it's pretty sweet. This is what we were missing last year :)

This is my fifth novel, hopefully my fifth win (though I don't want to jinx it... where's some wood?) So if anyone has questions or tears to share, I'm always open and I've experienced it all, so feel free to share. My advice is to have a little caffeine, a little insanity, and a lot of fun

My novel this year is off to an auspicious start, I have some stock characters in a decent situation, and like most Nanos, I know the beginning and the end but the middle will probably surprise me at least once in every scene...

I also compiled a list of Dares I'll be using for my fantasy story, I'm very excited:

1) Include the line "Oh, crap. A magic pigeon."
2) A dragon on welfare, after all his hoard was stolen by adventurers.
3) Have a duel between two characters using those tiny plastic rapiers they stick in sandwiches.
Double: The characters dueling are the right size for the weapons, and use the food in their tactics.
Triple: If this escalates into an entire war fought with sandwich and cocktail accessories.
4) Include the line "'Because it's funny' is not a valid reason for turning the enemy troops into fluffy pink bunnies." (I have a whole character set up for the sole purpose of this scene...)
5) a character carries an object with him that has seemingly no use whatsoever to him, yet passerby stare and say stuff like "Isn't that the orb of eternal sight?"
---triple bonus points if the object really has an ability, but it's totally pointless, such as turning gold into tree bark
----quadruple bonus points if the object actually resolves some point with its seemingly useless ability
6) Have a character yell "FOR PONY!" at some point
7)Have a wizard with an angelic teacup as their familiar. The teacup can fly on its little, feathery wings and has a halo.

Hi, all!

Lovely web site! Well done!

This Nanowrimo project is intimidating. I could definitely use a write-in for encouragement. I'm at a meager 500 words in at the moment.

Two questions:

-how do I upload to the main Nano website?

-would anybody be interested in a meet-up that meets later that 5-7? 7-9 at the downtown Borders some night, perhaps? If nobody's interested, I have no qualms about heading down there on my own, but I have an icky rotating work schedule that has me working until 6 or 6:30 most days, including weekends. Boo!

I would also love to hear people's plot ideas. I know mine has come a long way since the meet-up party...

Howdy...

Ok... I blog everywhere, may as well blog here. I haven't started writing as I don't have a story idea or even the vaugest plot come to me yet. I have plenty of characters but they're not doing much in my mind.

If something comes to me, I can write it. Till then, who knows. my writing LJ is here and I try to keep updating it as time allows.

I'll try to make it to the next write-in. I live a hop, skip and a jump from the south-side Java Joe's and I work near the north-side one.

Hope all goes well for the rest of the writers out there.

hi, i've never blogged

Just wanted to blog about how much fun I'm having writing a book. It's pretty crazy. I actually decided to do this because I don't have enough to do at my job. And I like to write. But all of a sudden, WHAM! -- things to do at work. I have a newsletter I'm printing out 5,000 copies, in house. That's 2 11 x 17 color plus an insert. so it's really like 12000 things I have to print out in the next couple of weeks. That's gonna take a long time!
